How it starts:
The Idea, to initiate personal contacts between Modelbuilders, was born in autumn 2004. In the begining the meetings took place in a small pub, but this was not the best way for our intention. But it has shown, that it is possible, to find persons, they are interested in model-building and personally contacts too - at the first time approximatly 5 persons visit our meetings periodicaly. Some day these guys became the tip for another tavern, this was the beginning of our new favourite haunt.

So the year 2005 starts in a new restaurant as our meeting place and in the further time, it seems that we have done quite right, to change the location. Since these days we had more and more persons in our meetings and increase in name recognition. So we know, that we are on the right way.

In the beginning, it was only an idea - Andreas has got them - starts to spreading, after Wolfgang joins up. Together they realized the great leap forward in reputation and develop further of the - in those days - WMR (Viennese Modellbuilders-Cyrcle). In utilization of the WorldWideWeb, we was able, to find interested persons of other provinces, they will be willing to invest a journey of a lot of miles, only to visit us. Also we was able, to find young people, they are interested in our hobby - and this is one of the most essentials things, we want to do.

So, in summer 2005, Thomas find the way to our group. In the meantime, he is one of our greatest enrichments. At this time, we starts planning of the own Homepage, here Thomas was also very helpful and we have to thank him for his engagemanet on this place. It seems, that the name WMR (Viennese Modellers Round) would not the best for the future, and so we changed the name to MBR (Modell-Builders-Cyrcle), because we dont want to be fixed on a regional arrea.

It is our effort, to build a platform for interested person of the complete country, with connections to all other interested around the world. The name Modell-Builders-Cyrcle should be a synonym for all people, they have a preference in modelling. We dont wants to hold borders, on the contrary, we wants to negate them, to bring more rating to our hobby.

In our metings we are enjoyed on people with other interests, like model-railways or Radio-Controled-Models and so on. In the past, we had some very interested talks with workmates of other fields. We are sure, that we all can learn of technics from other fields, not only to build better models.

So we had start in July 2005 with planning the statutes of the new association, named “Modellbaurunde”. After apply for government registration, we had to wait some times, but since middle of August 2005, “Modellbaurunde” was official profiled in Austria.

What is changing for the visitors of our meetings? Only nothing, we wants to be open for all persons, they are interested in modelling, and will be glad for every visitor.

One of our concerns, to start as an association was, to realize discounts by some dealers for our members. For our members we offers the possibility to present their works on our Homepage, to become a wide public as a free service. In the beginning, we had “deep thought” for the sum of subscription, because we does not want to charge a sum to someone’s account.
