Dear scale modelers
Here you see a short building report to my last model, a hunting tiger in 1/48 from Tamiya. For me it was a challange because I only use colors from Valleyo for the paintjob ...

Concept By an other website (www.missing-lynx.com) I get the idea to build this model. You know by models of this manufactures (Tamiya) you got no problems in building or fitting. I also used etched parts from Hauler for the grid and tracks from Friul because I like it. So I can finish the model and mount the tracks at the end. The next challange for me will be that I used for this model only acryl colors from Valleyo. The handling is not so easy but the drying process will be more faster than other colors.
The building This going fast, only for the lower hull you need some super glue for assambling the parts. The same I used for the etched parts for the grills. For the plastic parts I used a glue from Tamiya because he is easy to handle and dry very fast. So I mount all parts without the MG´s.
The paintjob First I make a base coat, also from Valleyo, this manufacture have a new finish one and so this will be a fast job. After this part I have time to make checks about other colors which one I can used. The hunting tiger get a 3 tone camouflage and a grey barel who symbols the base coat. For the barrel I used Light Grey (50). After a short time for drying I protect the barrel with a straw.
I got a little vantage thru a friend (Andreas T.), he help me finding a good color for the german yellow. So I get random tan (74) as the basic color. For the sides and the lower hull I mixed it with light brown (27) and the will be darker from the top to the bottom.
For the green I make a mix from cam. light green (06) and duck egg green (09) in 1:1 ratio. The brown was easy to find, I take US flat brown (26), this will be a good color for this project. Than I give the model a coat of a glossy farnish for a good base to mount the decals.
The weathering After a coat of flat varnish I started with the weathering. First I make some filters with MIG´s 3 tone camo filter. The next step was the wash, here I used also a MIG product called wash brown. Then I started with the cipping process with the same colors I need for the paintjob and for deeper chips I use german cam brown to present the base color. So you can show different deeps. Adter a short drying time I paint the tools. Here I used dessert yellow for the wooden parts and black or gun metal for the metal parts. For the area round of the wheels I take some grey Humbrol color, diluted with White Spirit and for volume I give some plaster in and mixed it with an old brush. So I take the brush near by the model and with the airbrush I make the splashes, I mean this is a very realistic method shown by MIG himself.
The tracks I like this tracks because the are easy to handle and have a natural hanging. For the mounting I need 3 hours and after a fitting the are finish build and I started to paint. I used balck and on the outsite becomes a layer earth brown. For the volume of mud I make a mixed of light brown from Humbrol and plaster for the volume, diluted with White Spirit. If all will by dry I mount it on the modell. As a good display I found a wooden basement and finished was my model.
Result I got appetite to build this model by inspiration from another forum and I mean I make a good job. For me personaly it was a callange to use this colors and shows me new options for my next project.
with best regards Andreas
