Gallery:  Diorama "Last Farewell"  1:48 (ws) back to Overview

Background:

Occurred in the course of the World War II also in the area China/Burma heavy fights of the allied British and Americans on sides of China against the Japanese. The loss-numbers of this epoch, just as the reports of participants speak a very unambiguous language here.

In the course of miscellaneous film-documentations, also in movie-pictures this time was represented again and again. So also in miscellaneous documentations of the BBC…… a scene from such a documentation I have been taken for my diorama as the pattern. Into the year 1976, miscellaneous wrecks were filming in the course of film-receptions in the jungle; a former US-Pilot used this opportunity "to do the last honor " to his former plane.

The scene:

Since a figure before an airplane-wreck actually gives away not much, I wanted to try to tell a few histories also in the surroundings. But the dismissal of the pilot of his machine should stand in the center.

The material:

The kit of the P 51-B "Mustangs" comes from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM; a Kit of that mediates in the box an extremely delicious impression. Super details, good casting - also accurate precision….. however the model is so crooked after the assembly, that I  had to give up my original plan, to represent them within attacking an anti-aircraft-position. As a wreck, the delay between fuselage and wings doesn't disturb of course……

Since I was healed after construction of the P 51 by this manufacturer fort he next times, the Merlin-Motor of an ICM-Spitfire-Kit have to suffer; the rest of the Spit hiked into the remains-box.

The figures are from Preiser and Verlinden, redisegned matching to the Dio.

The animals on the diorama are homemade from „Conrad“-quickly-spatula; the construction of the half crocodile has been the most fun for me; although a challenge was also the burmese python.

The birds have originated from filler and lead-foil, the chick in the nest was a casting-branch in the former life, the swan was also build from a filled drawn casting-branch.

The rat was carved from a spatula-scrap, something has admittedly become too big, but so what …..

The planting was collected in forest and meadow, dried and partially colored with airbrush or aquarelic-paints.

The painting:

For the painting of the parts I have used Revell-Airbrush-, Vallejo-Air-, Humbrol-, Revell-Enamel-color and aquarelic-paints.

Conclusion:

The construction has made - with exception of the mustang - enormously much fun over more than three months. I believe everything in all, that I have have delivered good work.

In this opportunity, I would like to thank with Mr. Joseph Neumeyer of "Dynamic-Diorama", who has inspired me with his "Missing in Action"-Diorama to this construction.

Happy modelling
