Gallery:  Focke Wulf Ta 152 H-1 .... 1:48 (sa) back to Overview

History

The Focke Wulf Ta 152 was a logical development of the Focke Wolf Fw 190 D-9.
To fight against the american bombeer-squads, who was operating in constantly higher altutudes, a program for fighters-planes for these altitudes was started.
This fighter-plane - who was equiped with an bomber-engine, the JuMo 213 E - was one of the fastest and most agile planes of world-war-two. The arming was two 20mm canons in the wing-roots and one 30mm engine-canon, they was firing through the propellors-hub. The maximum speed of this very smart plane was by 760 km/h (more than 500 mph) and so this plane was one of the fastest fighter-planes with piston-engine ever build.
The designation "Ta" is resulting of constructors name "Tank Kurt".
Only a dozen of planes have been seen service until the war was over, and all of them was used by Jagdgeschwader 301.

The kit

I have taken the - a little bit older - Dragon kit, because it is the only kit of this plane in this scale on the market. The assembly was without greater troubles, also the enclosed etched-parts upgrades the modell (considering her production date, they are up to date). By fitting the wings to the fuselage, you have to fill some gaps and slits. But over all, you will have no problems with this kit.

The Colour-Sheme

For varnishing I have used the "good old" Gunze-colours. The cockpit was painted in RLM66-tone and was dry-brushed. The seat-belts are etched-parts of Eduard.  The buttom was pinted in RLM78-light-blue, the upper side was painted in RLM75-violet-grey and RLM83-green.
For oldering I have choosed the oil-paint-methode.  I have waived in pre-shading, because in my opinion the oil-paint-methode brings more three-dimensional effects.
The decals was very thin and well printed and brings - after using Mark-Softer - good results.
Unfortunately you have not much choice in markings, because the plane was only used in one fighter-wing in two squadrons; so you can only select between green and yellow numbers for individual markings.

Conclusio

A very good and - in view of his age - very attractive kit, who makes perfectly happy at the date of issue. Using some after-market-parts you are able to build a very good detailled modell. If the industrie offers no other kit of this plane, you have no over choice to build this plane.

Happy modelling
