For the
Stuka, I must not write, this plane with his unambiguous sound at the nosedive
is well known. Still to it, there is numerous information in the literature as
well as in the Web.
The modell:
For my model I have used the
kit of Revell in 1:48. It seems that Revell has took over the old moulds of
Hasegawa, a good grip of Revell. The kit distinguish
with very good precision
and a clean casting. And this to a favorable price, so it relieves a good entry
into the topic airplane-model-construction.
The construction:
The construction was enforced in accordance with the
construction-instruction and yielded no big problems. A small alteration that I
had made was to cut out the mountings of the wheels, only to be able to install
these at the end.
In this kit, I have also given up using etched-parts; whoever doesn't
want to give up such has a very good base for supering with this kit..
The painting an oldering:
With this model, I did the first time to be able to
emphasize the attempt of a pre-shading about the engravings. In this step, the
model looks like a zebra, but it appears that this preparatory work is an
important aspect for the further painting. I began first to imagine the
surfaces between the lines and leave out the area of the engravings. The engrave-areas
was brushed under a pointed angle, so the color comes in the near of the
engravings and not in them. The cockpit itself was only treated with Klear and
then masked with Tape. The treatment with Klear makes possible to cut the tape directly
on the clear-part, because it makes this part more resistant. The
undercarriage-legs were not installed yet to relieve about the varnishing. For
the painting I have used colors of Gunze, because they have the correct RLM-color-pattern.
After the varnishing was ready and well dried, I still coated the model
with Clear to have an optimal surface for that the Decals. These became after install
a treatment with Mark Softer to adapt the contours about itself better. Then sign of wears and exhaust-soot
was applicated and as finish a layer of dull clear varnish was sprayed over all.
Conclusion:
Since my main-interest rather lies in the area of the
AFV´s, it was a interestingly trip for me into the plane-scene. A good kit as
basis and you can build a good model with the same technics as in building an
AFV. The passionend plane-builder has a very good base to build an excellent
model with this kit.
Incidentally I built this model for an online-contest
in a german Modellingforum and could reach the third place in my category.
Happy modelling
