Gallery: StuG (Assault Artillery) III-G - 1:48 (ad) back to Overview

Introduction

Dear friends of scale modeling

After I had to shift my planned project for Mosonmagyarovar (Hungary) for this year, unfortunately, indefinitely I tried  with another object. I trusted the first time my model in to the competition to put, about that later more. Let us come to used kits and the treatment.

Used kits

StuG III G Early Tamiya 1/48

Base armoured way railway crossroad

Hauler Etchedparts

Hecker and Goros figure set „Grenadier and armoured Commander“

Black Dog accessories sentence StuG III

Friul StuG III chains

The construction of the model

After the first control of the kits, this appear whole in excellent quality with quite low remachinings and a high degree in passing exactness, I have begun with the StuG.

By the high quality the construction led the way fast and I could begin with the varnish soon. To be able to hold the model better and more solidly I was founded this spot a fixture from old Lego-stones and fixed the model then by means of Patafix (Gluepads) on it. This method is very much recommend because the base always on the respective model can adapt itself and the gluepads freely of remains allow to remove. The casters will not separate here, however, yet mounted externally worked on.

After I was ready with the construction and was contented with the result the first set test was made with the accessories and the figure. Here I had to make up a little, I have given the figure the legs of another figure, to make her fitting.

The spraying

I used this spot for the model Colours from the Tamiya and Valleyo assortment. As colours for the Stug I took a bright earth tone, German Yellow, Yellow and white which I applied with the airbrush. On this occasion, the Colormodulation so popular currently tried to use to generate immediately the first contrasts. If one is contented a layer comes to attach of varnish on the model around the Decals then. Then come in to avoid to two layers of matt varnish on the model around a possible shining of the Decals and to receive a good surface for the following steps.

The ageing and filter

To grow old a little bit the model I use first Valleyo colours, here bright Yellow or Beige. These were appropriated to places where I accept that itself the varnish has scrubbed down. With a fine paintbrush so small points were put. Then in this quite fine points with oil paints were applied and with thinner to trickle away were brought. If the oil paints are dry occurred another order of matt varnish. Then the order of the filters occurred, here I used ready from MIG and applied this several times to me with the result was contented. Now it was to be devoted itself in the time to the accessories.

Accessories

The chains were assembled and varnished with black as well as aged with pigments, the wear places with graphite and silver were posttreated.

The loading was undercoated with Tamiya colours and the detailed painting occurred with Valleyo-as well as oil paints. To the better use the loading is also mounted Klebepads on a small tin. Thereby one makes easier to himself the Handling terrifically and the detailed painting becomes lighter.

With the figure I just went forward, for the uniform I used field grey from the Valleyo assortment and the shades were provided with oil paints.

Here the base, was also applied a priming with the airbrush and the details with Valleyo-and oil paints were painted. The other steps occurred with pigments and graphite powder.

Result

A successful draught with parts the fun with build make and to one, for me good result know how to like. On top of that because I have succeeded with this model „has well liked us“ to reach in Hungary that gives me new courage to venture me to new projects. In this sense

Happy modelling
